When both engines of an Airbus 320 were suddenly crippled in the air just after take-off from La Guardia airport in New York, Captain Chesley Sullenberger had to make a quick decision - how to save the lives of the 155 people on board the airplane. He skillfully set the plane down gently on the Hudson River in the middle of a freezing cold day in NYC. Everyone survived - most with minimal if any injuries. Sullenberger relied on his Air Force training and experience as a glider pilot to achieve the first commerical jet landing on water since the late 1970s.
